Unselfish Religion

bomb damage

Some folk commit heinous acts, apparently justified or motivated by religion.  Most religious people will utterly condemn such acts.  But, at the same time, they foster, support, even propagate the idea that religion is a code for life, morality, behaviour.  So, although not directly responsible for the carnage, the devout contribute to the environment where religious teachings and texts prompt actions.  Would it be reasonable to ask the religions of the world to denounce this for the greater good?
