Armistice Day approaches again. Folk all over the world will be wearing poppies and standing for a moment’s silence. I ask: is it time to review this practice? Have these acts of remembrance brought peace or dissuaded us from sending more of “our brave boys” to maim and kill or be maimed and killed themselves? No, they have not. Will we ever learn?
Violence only causes more violence.
However mighty you are, you cannot kill ideas. Eventually, you have to talk to your enemies.
All wars are economic wars; religion and patriotism are merely how we muster the troops.
Someone is getting rich out of this misery. Maybe, just maybe, a little less attention on remembering our glorious fallen, and a little more attention on telling the vermin in Westminster and Whitehall, we will not accept any more killing, might be a good idea?
