Every Friday authors from around the world gather here to share their 100-words and offer constructive crit and encouragement to each other. This creates a wonderful opportunity for free reading of very fresh fiction! Readers are encouraged to comment as well.

Ghenadie Bullat plays jazz guitar on two very different planets and guards this secret with his life.
On planet one, practice is every Thursday night, and then a gig in a village hall or bandstand, maybe once a month, usually a Sunday afternoon. There’s often tea and cakes, some sympathy.
On planet two, the Bullat Quartet plays to a packed speakeasy every night, surrounded by scantily-clad exotic dancing girls, freely flowing booze, adoring groupies of dubious morality and erotic promise.
Ghenadie’s performances are always better received on planet two, his renown is irrepressible: improvisation is a truly wonderful thing.

  1. He plays in two different worlds and seems to need both. Too bad he can’t improvise more in the bandstand, he seems to get his satisfaction in the bar Too bad he can’t find a third place where he can do both. Well done, Mick. 🙂 — Suzanne

    Dear Mick,

I think you are writing from Planet # 1 and Planet # 2 tonight. Very nice double take on the prompt.

  3. Dear Mick,

Two stories are permitted as long as they’re good ones. This is a good one. 😉

  4. Margaret says:

I like this idea. Maybe Ghenadie could introduce his planet one audience to his improvisation skills – might liven them up a bit.

    • micklively says:

Thanks Margaret. I rather think that, if Ghenadie had the wherewithal to enact as you suggest, he wouldn’t be such a dreamer in the first place?

  5. mjlstories says:

    Those planets – neat idea.
On another planet I’m a maths teacher – Friday Fiction is definitely my planet two (without the groupies but plenty of improvisation).

  6. I’m on the next shuttle to planet 2!

  7. Is there a planet for us girls to go to?

  8. Sounds like Ghenadie Bullat has a good thing going! 😉 Very clever story-telling.

  9. plaridel says:

just wondering what happens on planet three. 🙂

    • micklively says:

Planet three is where he plays both cricket and football for England, lifts both World Cups, and then marries Angelina Jolie.
      Many thanks for your feedback.

  10. Wow, you wrote another one? How cool is that. I wrote one but waiting to post it. Like them both Mick 🙂

I will be pleased to read your thoughts, even if you don't agree.
